In response to the December surveys, the Business Improvement District (B.I.D.) has formed a parking subcommittee to study the possibility of bringing back two free hours of meter parking during the Holidays. The committee consists of 6 
BID members (Jim Kaufman- Baubles and Beads, Ken Martin- Mike's Bikes, Gisela Green- Avant Garde, Sharon Christoviche- Folkart Gallery, Maurice Bowers- M.C. Bowers Antiques and Aref Ahmadia- West End Cafe), Parking Services Manager- Mark Miller and the Assistant City Manager- Jim Schutz.  

Throughout the month of April, we will be discussing the holiday parking program, a yearly garage validation parking program and receive a report on the segway enforcement.   

San Rafael Downtown Map:

In collaboration with the Redevelopment Agency and with a secured grant from PG & E, the B.I.D. map committee (Stan Gibbs-Art Works Downtown, Sharon Christoviche- Folkart Gallery and Ron Bolds- Bolds Insurance)  have been working with Greg Knell of Inner Workings and illustrator Gary Kell to produce a walking map of Downtown San Rafael. It will emphasize our most celebrated historic and cultural sites as well as highlight every member. The purpose of the map is to promote Downtown and show visitor's how to spend two hours in our diversified business community.

Graffiti Abatement Program:

The City of San Rafael has a GRAFFITI HOTLINE...(415) 485-5326.

Please call the hotline if you see graffiti on public property. Public Works will remove the markings immediately. If you have graffiti you would like removed from your private property then they will provide you with information on techniques in the removal of graffiti or offer the property owner the choice of signing a release form authorizing the City's graffiti abatement worker to remove or cover the graffiti at a minimum cost of $25.

 New Board Members:

 Welcome Committee:

The B.I.D. Executive Director Joanne Webster, San Rafael Chamber of Commerce Chairman Haden Ongaro and President/CEO Tallia Hart as well as City Deputy Manager Nancy Mackle have formed a Welcome Committee to provide pertinent information to all business new to San Rafael. We have established this committee to put a face on local government services and business related resources and to build positive relationships and partnerships between the public and private community. We will host the meetings within the different designated areas of San Rafael; Downtown/West End, Canal Neighborhood, East San Rafael and North San Rafael.The first meeting will be held on Monday, April 14th from 6-7:30pm with a wine and cheese reception at the Donna Seager Gallery located at 851 Fourth Street in Downtown.
